Polka Dot Pot

19 January 2015

We stopped in at the Polka Dot Pot in downtown Winchester where you can paint your own pottery or fuse jewelry. We ended up sharing a mug and Noah painted the inside and I did the outside. We were inspired by this "I Woof You" mug at Target, which I've had my eye on for about a month. Combine coffee & tea with a puppy dog mug and I'm yours. We can pick it up in about a week once it's gone through the kiln and I can't wait to see the final product. While I've fused jewelry here before, I've never done their pottery so this was a nice way to mix it up.

Bon Matin Chez Leroy

18 January 2015

There's a new french bakery in town and I love it. You can bet that it'll be featured on here a little more often. Surprisingly, Winchester didn't have a bakery before this (not for the past few years anyways). Noah and I always say it's one of the first things we would have added to our town and ta-da! Here we go.

Since we were eating as a sort of brunch, the spinach and feta quiche and a raspberry croissant were our selections. They were both mouth wateringly delicious.

With my sweet tooth I really loved the croissant, and Noah loved the savory quiche. I'd highly recommend it for a small lunch with a girlfriend, or a place to study, or even a small bible study/study group meeting place. I hope they find a lot of success and that we can enjoy their baked goods for years to come.

Beauty Round Up

Tips for avoiding split ends.

In winter we all get some chapped lips. Try making this lip scrub at home.

The famous bikini boot camp.

Since I'm getting in the mood for a professional placement, low maintenance beauty tips are appreciated. Ever hear that saying "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"? I may be a student, but I know where I want to go and it's best to represent that each day.

Here's my new logo for my professional blog. A seller on etsy does custom logos for $5. It means every one is different and you don't know exactly what you're going to get - but it's simple and makes the needed statement, which is exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to keep a record of my professional development over the years (mixed in with some guest appearances from certain animals since one of the areas I'm interested in is veterinary pharmacy). Along the avenue of professional development I'm buying a business card holder and business cards. I've been told it's always good to have contact information readily available if you're volunteering, going to club meetings, and attending conferences. You never know who you're going to meet and you don't want to miss an opportunity.

With Love

Today I'm meeting with a veterinary office to talk about possible volunteering opportunities. Cross your fingers for me that we can work something out since my spring schedule is already a little hectic.

In other news, Odin will be very sad when I start classes again on Monday because he has been spoiled rotten for the past few weeks with me at home. While at Target I picked up this chalkboard thinking it'd be absolutely adorable for a photoshoot. What do you think?

This doggie trinket dish from Anthro.

Browsing the Pretty Fluffy blog. I found this months ago then got a new computer and couldn't for the life of me remember the name. Love the puppy pictures.

Snaptotes. Oh my gosh. My friend Sam and her mom, Kathy, both have one now and I have loved them forever. This is definitely on my birthday list.

Hahaha. Oh boy, this iPhone case is definitely coming home with me sometime. Can you hear me now?

Still the season for soup. Maybe I should give this corn miso chowder a try.

Welcome 2015

01 January 2015

It's a brand new year. 2014 flew by a bit for me. Some months felt extremely long while some chunks felt like they could be crammed into a single week. There's always something exciting about a clean slate you know?

Here are my resolutions as listed while eating Mexican with my friend Allison:
Make a built in
Get in 6 hikes
Bonfire once a month during summer
Publish a research paper
Attend three Bright Box concerts
Make "friend" OK Cupid account
Class towards dog agility
Run a 5K
Learn how to make bread
